An expedition ends in tragedy when tourists drown in Lake Kariba.

A tourist who had gone on a boat charter drowned in Lake Kariba, according to Kariba police.


Roy Hartley Battis, 45, of 50 Magamba Way in Chinhoyi, drowned in the Musambakaruma group of islands after taking a charter boat with his friends in the evening.


Mashonaland West police spokesperson inspector Margaret Chitova confirmed the unfortunate incident to Nyaminyamifm but was unable to provide further details, directing this publication to national police spokesperson assistance commissioner Paul Nyathi, whose contact was unavailable at the time of publication.


It is suspected that Battis was inebriated at the time of the unfortunate incident.


His body is being cared for at a hospital.
